Heavy Carbohydrates

Other carbohydrates  may be plasma-reformed to obtain high quality syngas with higher heating value up to 350 BTU/SCF.  Heavy petroleum fractions not suitable for distillation or use as heating oils / fuels may be plasma reformed using high voltage electric discharges.  Non-thermal plasma including microwave plasma reforming of methane under slightly negative pressures to produce syngas with higher heating value up to 350 BTU/SCF.   The process requires steam flow and there is no need in expensive catalysts containing noble metals.  The non-thermal plasma maintains the process due to its exothermic nature.  Methane or natural gas injection is needed to initiate the process.

Glycerol

Booming global biodiesel production creates a worldwide surplus of Glycerol. Glycerol is a waste by-product of transesterification process as a part of biodiesel manufacture. Thus glycerol is rapidly becoming a waste product with an attached disposal cost.

Glycerol subjected to catalytic steam reforming results in syngas production with very attractive increased hydrogen content at higher syngas heating value at about 350 BTU/SCF. The process of steam reforming can use temperatures which are significantly lower as compared to those  required for coal, petroleum refinery waste or biomass gasification.  Use of glycerol as the carbon source for syngas production is not associated with generation of hydrogen sulfide, mercury containing waste and difficult to dispose and often highly toxic solids.

Use of special plasma generators for glycerol conversion to high heating value syngas is another attractive, promising and close to commercial applications environmentally friendly technology.  This technology finally leads to establishing of exothermic process with the opportunity to use generated heat in other processes not directly linked to syngas production.

We would like to consider partnering with biodiesel businesses and companies transforming biodiesel waste glycerol to syngas to generate energy.  Such partnership would increase value of our syngas-to-chemicals technology and create opportunities to develop complex highly integrated processes with zero carbon footprint and significant revenues.
